High Sierra Permaculture was founded by individuals seeking innovative and practical approaches to the pressing ecological and environmental crisis of our day.
HSP is creating an educational hub that will use sustainable principles and practices of permaculture with cottage industries to develop collaborative, community-based strategies for positive social change and effective environmental stewardship:
- Honoring, preserving and teaching indigenous culture and heritage
- Organic, year-round, locally produced food, compost and soil
- Organic, locally produced dairy products
- Clean energy and renewable fuels
- Sustainable construction
- Art and music
- Protecting water as a public good and an essential public trust resource, and protecting water quality for all (safe and clean rivers, natural springs, groundwater and drinking water)
- Fish restoration
- Sustainable forestry and reforestation
- Wilderness programs
- Natural and holistic healing therapies and modalities
- Worker owned, local, cooperatives and businesses
